Intermediary Platforms

A conclusion of our last study of wrap and supermarket platforms is that once fund supermarkets have rolled out a full set of basic wrappers and major providers have launched platforms, advisers will see platforms as the default when placing the majority of investment and individual pensions business.

It follows that traditional packaged products will be marginalized, except in specific areas such as structured products.

There are many issues for the adviser to resolve. These include:

  • How do they consolidate existing protfolios?
  • One platform or more?
  • Open architecture or mutual fund?
  • Fee or commission based remuneration?

Let us know what you think and what the issues are for you.
