adnitor UK Platform Awards Dinner 2008 in association with CWC Research
The second adnitor UK Platform Awards Dinner in association with CWC Research was held at the Café Royal on 21 October 2008. Over 250 of the movers and shakers of the platform world celebrated success and achievement across the platform sector with a gala dinner and fantastic entertainment followed by the awards ceremony hosted by Justin Urquhart Stewart.
Sadly, the Café Royal is being converted into an hotel, so this was the last opportunity to enjoy this magnificent, historical establishment that has seen so many events and personalities over 140 years.
Fundsnetwork generously sponsored the Champagne reception, whilst Standard sponsored the evening’s entertainment, rock opera from Passionata.
The guest speaker was the London Evening Standard’s Anthony Hilton, one of the few genuinely highly regarded City commentators, who seemed relatively confident that it might be time to dip a toe into the equity market once more.
Apart from copious food and wine, the key to an excellent awards event has to be the integrity of the awards judging process. The last thing you need is a cry of “Who?” when the winner is announced. There were no such surprises – rather general recognition that winners deserved their awards.
Nick Cann, CEO of the IFP, managed the judging process, watched over by Lawrence Gosling of Incisive Media and supported by a panel of experts.
Each award was judged on a basis that was appropriate – so advisers voted for top platforms, whereas platform managers voted for the best platform software and administration provider awards. For more details on the judging process, see “Award judging”.
